Indian Railways organisational structure: Indian Railways is one of the world’s largest rail networks
with 64,460 route kilometres of route lengths Indian Railways is a very big system, in which many departments are divided into many departments, for which other systems are used. Initially, it is largely organized into functional groups within the Indian Railway Service. India’s rail system is managed at the regional level as the Indian Railways has divided itself into 18 regional railways. Each region, headed by a general manager, is semi-autonomous and forms a matrix organization where functional branches are under dual control. So that it is run properly.

Overview: Organisation structure
Indian Railways organisational structure: In the Indian Railways organizational structure, the railways divide itself into four major parts. In which the railway ministry is the first. Which works at the ministry level. In which any new changes which are taken for the benefit of railways. Which is done by the Minister of Railways. After this comes the Railway Board, in which all the decisions related to the Railways are taken and, The board is headed by a Chairman who directly reports to the Railway Minister. The board has five other members. The Railway Board is followed by the Zonal Railways which grow themselves into 18 Zones and each of the Zones has a General Manager who further reports to the Railway Board. Zones also have multiple divisions, managed by division managers, who all report to the general manager of their zones.

What is DRM Post In Railway: The divisions are primarily involved with train running but may also have locomotive sheds, coaching depots, and wagon depots. Each division has all the functional organisations both line and staff. The heads of these functional groups report to the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) for administrative purposes but rely on the railway board and the zonal headquarters for policy guidelines.

Who is CEO of Railway Board?:IRSME Suneet Sharma as the new chairman and CEO of the Railway Board. Suneet Sharma is a Special Class Railway Apprentice Officer of the 1978 batch. He has earlier served as the general manager of Modern Coach Factory, Rae bareli, and divisional railway manager, Pune, Central Railway.
